NaBloPoMo July Day 4: Before Leaving for Oz, We Celebrated This Land of the Free

Ten years ago, I dabbled once, and only once, with black and white film during our time at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.  Aside from pictures of family, this is one of my favorite photos:


Taken originally on Flag Day and in celebration of the Army's birthday, it resonated with me for July 4 as well.

My first year as a military wife and our time at WSMR was over, and we were on our way, somewhere over the rainbow, to our next military post.  

In Kansas, deployment and a year spent at home with our youngest would necessitate a change in how I stayed connected to friends and family.  Hello, internet.
